Here at Ventress Hall care home, our dedicated and highly experienced team provides nursing care, residential care, respite care and day care for older people, including those with physical disabilities. We also provide sensitive and compassionate end of life care (we’re working towards certification under the respected Gold Standards Framework).
We have the flexibility to provide short term, respite care for people who may have had a stay in hospital and need a little extra help and support while they recover. Older people who still live in their own home, or are looked after by family carers, and who like having some extra support or social interaction during the day, are also welcome to join us as often as they like.
A lovely setting: we’re located on Trinity Road, a leafy, sought-after residential area close to the centre of Darlington. Inside, the care home is full of character – blending modern and period features – while providing the comfortable accommodation and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Ours is a close-knit home, with a great feeling of community. Residents also play an active part in day-to-day life at Ventress Hall, and the wider community in Darlington has been getting behind Peter, now a former resident, who has been running a one-man campaign to collect stamps to raise funds for the Great North Air Ambulance.
Come and see us during the day and you might find Mavis, a long-standing volunteer, running her weekly quiz, or residents doing some armchair aerobics with Julie, a qualified fitness instructor who has been visiting us for over 15 years. Or there’s the parachute game, which residents love and raises lots of laughter…
We have fairs, coffee mornings and outings all year round, but the summer is always a great time to get out and about. Care home residents help out on the many stalls at our summer fete and in the run up to the day there’s lots of activity with cake baking and craft making. Family and friends and people from the Darlington community always turn up to support us and everyone has a great time – whatever the weather.
As we offer day care at Ventress Hall care home, there are always some extra faces around during the day. Our day care guests join in with activities that our residents are doing, and it’s a great way to make new friends or even get reacquainted with familiar faces from the Darlington area.
Everyone – resident or day guest – has a soft spot for animals, and we have some regular four-legged visitors who brighten everyone’s day when they pop in to the care home. We have own rabbit – Smudge – who is an ex Pets as Therapy bunny, who sits still for cuddles and hops along on his lead to visit residents! Meg, the Pets as Therapy dog, also pops in and goes from room to room collecting pats and cuddles.
