We are an international, family owned company with over 1400 employees worldwide. Our core business is the manufacture and sale of our range of stairlifts.
Our United Kingdom head office, factory and distribution centre is located in Yorkshire. We also have factory in Scotland, along with a nationwide network of surveyors and installers that are never more than a phone call away. We have a major presence in the United States, with sales and distribution centres in Florida, New Jersey, and California.
As well as having a significant presence in United Kingdom and the United States, Acorn Stairlifts also has offices in Australia, Canada, France, Italy, Germany and South Africa, making our range the world's best selling stairlifts.
Our company was formed in 1992. We started by buying, reconditioning and reselling stairlifts from other stairlift makers. In a short space of time, demand outstripped supply and so we decided we needed other supply options to maintain our commitment to exceptional customer service.
We took the step to develop and design our own stairlifts. The Superglide Stairlift was born, with a wealth of great features it became a market leader, to this day it remains at the forefront of stairlift technology.
Designed to be customer focused, simple, easy to install and maintain we wanted to remove some of the difficulties we had experienced with selling other stairlifts.
We acquired motor and gearbox manufacturing facilities based in Scotland. This ensured we have complete control over the quality and technology of the most importance piece of any stairlift.
We were the first stairlift manufacturer to develop a system using DC batteries to power a stairlift motor. The advantages of smooth power delivery and the ability to operate during a power cut have made the DC battery the recognised standard in today's stairlifts.
We are one of the largest suppliers of stairlifts direct to customers. We produce more than 50,000 new stairlifts every year and have hundreds of thousands of customers worldwide.
